Patient Experience: A Personal Story

Mrs. Somsri, a 45-year-old woman, underwent an upper abdominal ultrasound due to persistent abdominal pain, with her doctor suspecting potential liver or gallbladder issues. “At first, I was a bit anxious because I had never undergone this type of test before, but after the doctor and nurse explained the procedure, I felt much more relaxed,” Mrs. Somsri shared.

The Ultrasound Procedure

On the day of the test, Mrs. Somsri was taken to a room with the ultrasound machine. The nurse applied a clear gel to her abdomen, and the doctor used the ultrasound probe to move over the gel-covered area. “It felt a bit cool on my stomach, but it wasn’t painful at all. It just felt like a light massage,” Mrs. Somsri explained.

Feelings During and After the Procedure

The ultrasound took about 20-30 minutes. Mrs. Somsri said, “During the test, the doctor explained what they were looking at from time to time, which made me feel reassured and more understanding of the process. After the test, I felt perfectly fine with no additional discomfort.”

Results and Importance

After the test, the doctor scheduled a follow-up appointment a week later to discuss the results. The ultrasound revealed gallstones and a small amount of fat in her liver. “The doctor provided advice on treatment and dietary changes, which made me feel more confident in managing my health,” Mrs. Somsri noted.
