- Applying Gel to the Skin The doctor will apply warm gel to the area being examined to help transmit sound waves and obtain clear images.
- Using the Transducer The transducer is moved over the skin to capture images of internal organs. The child may feel a slight coolness but no pain.
- Duration of the Exam The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on the area examined.
Post-Examination Care
- Cleaning the Skin The gel will be wiped off, but parents can clean the area further at home if needed.
- Monitoring the Child Although ultrasound is safe, watch for any unusual symptoms and consult a doctor if necessary.
